
PHASE II STORM WATER REGULATIONS
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW!
Effective in March, 2003, the Village of Massapequa Park, together with other municipalities of similar size, was required to file a Notice of Intent to the USEPA/NYSDEC for SPDES permits for all its MS4 storm systems and outfalls. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? It means that the Village was required to implement a six-part Phase II Storm Water Program, submit annual reports to the NYSDEC summarizing activities performed, and hold an annual public meeting to present a draft annual report and discuss highlights of its activities and present a draft report.
The Phase II Program consists of six parts as follows:
1.Public Education and Outreach
2.Public Involvement/Participation
3.Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination (IDDE)
4.Construction Runoff Controls
5.Post-Construction Runoff Controls
6.Pollution Prevention/Good Housekeeping for Municipal Operations.Annual reports submitted by the Village are as follows:
