The
Board meets on the second and fourth Mondays at 8:00 p.m.
throughout the year. These meetings, held in Village Hall
at 151 Front Street, are open to the public. Board

The
Village has a voice mail telephone system which allows
callers to easily connect with all Village Departments.
Additionally, each phone is equipped with voice mail so
messages can be left anytime including non-business
hours. If a message is left during the day, your call
will be returned as soon as possible. If you need to
speak to someone, the receptionist is always available by
dialing "0".

The
Village administration has a unique system of
communicating with its residents. In addition to the
evening Board meetings, open hearings on proposed
legislation and the 24 hour voice mail system, the
Village publishes a newsletter, The Village Voice, which
is mailed to each resident and reports Village happenings
and law changes.
Press
releases are provided to local newspapers (Massapequa
Post, Massapequan Observer and South Bay Newspaper, the
News 12 Neighborhood Network, and to this website.
The
mayor, with the consent of a majority of the Board,
appoints officials and volunteers to various agency and
committee posts, including the Zoning Board of Appeals,
the Planning Commission and other committees or special
boards as required.
Some of
the benefits of living in an incorporated village are
local or village related road maintenance, zoning
protection, a local court system, construction control
and snow removal. There is local traffic and parking
control, and street lighting maintenance among other
benefits. As a result of this local control, there can be
greater efficiencies.
The
Village has unique programs and park facilities. There
are annual celebrations such as the Memorial Day parade,
the Independence Day weekend festival, and the December
holiday programs. There are fairs and other special
programs at different times of the year, all of which
create an ambiance conducive to a close community
spirit.
The
Village is an Equal Opportunity Employer and complies
with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
