Mayor James Altadonna and William Colfer, Chairman of Massapequa Cares, were presented with a check from Commander Richard Begandy, VFW Post 7763. Massapequa Cares sponsors the annual Massapequa Day at Northport Veterans Administration Medical Center. This event produces a volunteer USA type show, provides refreshments to the veterans and donates much needed items to the veterans which include sweatpants, slippers and socks. The Board Meeting of the Incorporated Village of Massapequa Park scheduled for Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 8 p.m. has been changed to Monday, February 22, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Village Hall, 151 Front Street, Massapequa Park and is open to all residents.

On Wednesday, January 20, 2010 Moot Court Trials were performed by members of Mr. Bachman’s Massapequa High School’s Introduction to Law Class. Presiding at the trials was Village Justice Gerard E. Giannattasio. The trials were conducted as would an actual trial without a jury. Special awards were presented to the two winning teams who are pictured below from L to R. Lauren Reisig, Laura Waldron, Sara Dramer, Gabriella Johnston, the Honorable Gerard E. Giannattasio, Rob Wallace, Nick Barbieri, Dan Papa, and Mike Cantalupo.

New S.O.R.T. Recycling Collection Schedule

The Town of Oyster Bay’s S.O.R.T. recycling collection day for ALL residents of the Incorporated Village of Massapequa Park will now be Thursday. If residents have any questions, they should contact the Town of Oyster Bay’s Sanitation and Recycling Collection Division at 755-1839.
